About UNIFEM: The National Committee for UNIFEM Singapore is a non-profit organization working towards women’s empowerment and gender equality in developing countries.

We support programs that provide women and children with access to education, healthcare, economic independence and a life free of violence and abuse.

In order to achieve this, we undertake a wide range of fundraising activities, membership drives and public education programs and events.

What is MoneySend™?

DBS MasterCard® MoneySend™ is an online money remittance service that allows for safe and convenient fund transfers. It lets migrant workers in Singapore transfer funds anytime, anywhere via the internet, safely and conveniently.

How do I benefit?

Each person that successfully registers with UNIFEM MoneySend™ will be given free financial classes and workshops conducted by financial advisors, ipac. The financial empowerment programs aim to provide guidance in the areas of mindful saving, budgeting, cash and debt management, education planning and goal-setting.

Who else benefits from this program?

100% of the money raised from the UNIFEM MoneySend™ program will be fed back into programs that benefit needy communities in Singapore and in migration countries of origin.

DayOff Campaign – This is a public education campaign aimed at encouraging employers in Singapore to voluntarily give their domestic worker a day off. Through campaign activities such as talks, events, news articles and this website, we hope that enough people become convinced on the importance of giving their domestic worker personal time off.

Projects in countries of Origin – We are working to support a developing country NGO fostering entrepreneurship and benefiting migrant workers. Details to be announced.

Why UNIFEM?

UNIFEM internationally supports and enables women to develop business and entrepreneurial skills to access local, national and global markets. In addition, UNIFEM aims to assist women in gaining access to finance, technology and information.

We encourage overseas workers to establish their own bank account to encourage the individual to save money in a safe place, which in turn avoids salary disputes. MoneySend™ also requires the receiving party to have their own bank account, therefore encouraging savings on the receiving end.

What do I need to sign up?

To fund your MoneySend™ transaction, you need to have a MasterCard® credit card or debit card issued by DBS/POSB Bank, or an Internet bank account with DBS/POSB Bank. You will also need a local registered mobile phone number.

To receive money, your Receiver needs to have (or may apply for) a MasterCard® or Maestro card issued by one of the participating MoneySend™ receiving banks.
